Riverdance!

This week I went with my Grandmother to see Riverdance. For those of you who don't know this is the final time Riverdance will be touring. I've always been a fan of this, me and my Grandma would watch it together on a vhs that she had when I was little. So it was pretty special to me that I finally got to see it live, although it was sad that it won't be touring anymore, it was absolutely stunning.
The Riverdance show consists of dancing, singing, and playing instruments.

This is what the show consists of

ACT ONE

Reel Around the Sun - The Irish Dance Troupe

The Heart's Cry - The Riverdance Singers

The Countess Cathleen - The Female Irish Dance Troupe and The Male Moscow Folk Dancers

Caoineadh Chu Chulainn (Lament) - The Riverdance Irish Piper

Thunderstorm - The Male Irish Dance Troupe

Shivna - The Riverdance Flamenco Soloist and The Male Irish Dance Troupe

Slip into Spring : The Harvest - The Riverdance Band

Riverdance - The Irish Dance Troup with The Riverdance Singers and Drummers

ACT TWO

American Wake - The Company

The Harbour of the New World
Heal Their Hearts: Freedom - The Riverdance Baritone Soloist

Trading Taps - The Riverdance Tappers

Macedonian Morning - The Riverdance Band

The Russian Dervish - The Moscow Folk Ballet

Oscail an Doras (Open the Door) - The Irish Dance Troupe and The Riverdance Singers

Andalucia - The Riverdance Flamenco Soloist

Heartland - The Irish dance Troupe

Finale - The Company

One of my favorite parts of the entire show had to be the Flamenco Soloist, Rocio Montoya. The encorporation of Flamenco into traditional irish dance was so interesting, because typical irish dancing is done with your arms at your sides. Yet she danced with her arms in fluid motion, while irish dancing. It was so beautifully done and the colors involved with her part of the show were so bright that I felt like I was in Spain watching a festival.
One aspect of the show that i hadn't anticipated was the importancy of the music. There was a fiddler, Pat Mangan. He was extraordinary. There were parts of the show in which he would move to center stage to perform a solo and he was so good. My only critique of his part would be the length of it. At some points i felt like "okay....come on..." but even at those points it was still amazing.
Vocals were also a huge part of the show. There was one vocalist that stood out to me most, The Baritone Soloist, Michael Samuels. Although he only sang one full song on his own, it was one of the most bone chilling parts of the show. His voice was insanely beautiful and I couldn't believe my ears. I still have the song stuck in my head today.
But, the largest part of the show was obviously the irish dancing! The dancing in the show passed any expectation i had or any memory from the movie i used to watch with my grandmother. The way the dancers move their feet is mind blowing. The pace of the hard dancing was so fast, I have no idea how they do it. Pretty much the show consists of two kinds of dance, "hard shoe" and "soft shoe". Hard shoe is where they make the traditional tapping noise on the ground with their feet. The power and precision of all the dancers was incredible. Soft shoe is when the dancers move with more eloguence and grace, allowing a more fluid movement of the legs and feet. Although to me soft shoe is prettier, hard shoe is much more entertaining and it was more shown in the performances.
There were six Lead Dancers who were involved with many of the solos throughout the night. Craig Ashurst, Liam Ayres, Melissa Convery, Caterina Coyne, Marty Dowds, and Alana Mallon. Each was spectacular in their own way. My favorite, by far, is Marty Dowds. His feet move faster than anything i have ever seen before. And his stamina allows him to keep up incredibly fast rhythyms for long periods of time.
At some points in the performace, a sort of dance-off would occur. This was one of my favorite parts because it really displayed the abilities of the dancers better than routine dancing. "Trading Taps" displayed one of the best dance battles of the entire nights, making it one of my highest ranked parts of the show.
Irish Dance is an amazing art form which has been and will be around for a long long time, despite Riverdance's final tour. The power, percision, and grace of it's dancers are mind blowing and for all who were lucky to have seen them, a great memory.

Thats all i got to say.

GaGa is here to stay. But where on earth did she come from and who is she!?

In the 90's, only babies said gaga. Now, everyone screams GaGa.
But not for attention from their mother. They scream because Lady GaGa is one of the hottest musical artists out there.
Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on March 28th 1986, she was always a musical child. She started playing the piano at age 4. By 13 she had written her first piano ballad and by 14 she was playing at open mic nigths. She was sent to join the Juilliard School yet instead she attended Convent of the Sacred Heart. The school was a private Roman Catholic school in which she felt insecure because she was more eccentric that her fellow students. "I used to get made fun of for being either too provocative or too eccentric, so I started to tone it down. I didn’t fit in, and I felt like a freak." she told In Touch Weekly At age 17 she gained early acceptance in New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. There, she gained more expirience in songwriting, yet she later left the school to focus on her music career.
So when did Stefani Germonatta become Lady GaGa? WELL, Stefani was signed with Def Jam records after the CEO L. A. Reid heard her singing down the hall from his office, yet she was dropped shortly after that. One of her former management companies then introduced her to RedOne, a songwriter and producer, who they also managed. Together they created the song "Boys Boys Boys". Stefani moved to the Lower East Side and began perfroming in clubs, yet she fell to drugs and began performing in burlesque shows. This was a low point in her life, in which her relationship with her father crumbled. Music producer Rob Fusari, who helped her create some of her earlier songs, started to create what would be known as Lady GaGa. He started with the Queen song "Radio Ga Ga" and he was texting her that name when the auto-correct on his cellphone changed "Radio" to "Lady". The text was sent before he was able to change it back. She responded with "That's it." and from then on was known as Lady GaGa.
Lady GaGa was invited to perfrom with Lady Starlightm around town in clubs. They called their show "Lady GaGa and the Starlight Revue". Lady Starlight helped GaGa to create her onstage fashion and attitude. Which are two of her largest qualities. The pair were invited to play at the Lollapalooza, a critically acclaimed show, where their act recieved praise. Lady GaGa found her signature style when she started encorporating the glam rock feel such as Queen. Fusari sent songs that he and GaGa worked on to his friend Vincent Herbert. Herbert quickly signed her to his record label, Streamline records. Which is an imprint of Interscope Records.
She previously worked an internship at Famous Music Publishing as an apprentice songwriter and she was hired by Sony/ATV Music Publishing when they took over the company. This song writing experience led to her writing for musicians such as Fergie, The Pussycat Dolls, and Britney Spears. She was recognized by Akon for her vocal talents and asked Interscope to form a joint deal with her on his label Kon Live Distribution.
She continued working with RedOne on her first album and dropped the smash hit "Just Dance" followed by "Poker Face". GaGa joined the Cherrytree Records imprint of Interscope. Cherrytree focuses on new artists with extreme potential. A huge boost for GaGa, well deserved.
Following this, she moved to Los Angeles to finalize her debut album, "The Fame".
So there you have it. From Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta to Lady GaGa, it was a long road, yet she made it. Now she is one of the biggest musical artists of our time. She contintues to amaze fans and viewers with her music, style, and opinions.

That's all I got to say.

If you own a radio, tv, computer, or magazine, you know this woman.

When I say female music artist who comes to mind?
For me, its Beyonce.
Born Beyonce Giselle Knowles in Houston Texas, she made her earliest start in a rapping and dancing group called Girl's Tyme. Her future Destiny's Child group member Kelly Rowland was also in the group. Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles, became her full time manager. Beyonce spent a few years in Girl's Tyme but as she got older a new group was created in 1997. The legendary Destiny's Child began, consisting of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Arguably one of the most talented female R&B groups of all time, Destiny's child released 4 studio albums. Consisting of "Denstiny's Child" (1998), "The Writing's on the Wall" (1999), Survivor (2001), and "Destiny Fulfilled" (2004). "Survivor" reached #1 on the billboard charts in 2001, and "Destiny Fulfilled" reached #2 in 2004. Aside from their studio albums, they released 3 side albums. "8 Days of Christmas" (2001), "This is the Remix" (2002), and "#1's" (2005).
Aside from Beyonce's music career, in 2001 she landed a major role in "Carmen: A Hip Hopera." Following that she played Foxxy Cleopatra in "Austin Powers in Goldmember." Beyonce then co-stared with Cuba Gooding Jr. in "The Fighting Temptations." She also starred in "The Pink Panter" (2006) and "Dream Girl" (2006). In 2008 she played in "Cadillac Records." Her latest movie is "Obsessed" (2009).
Beyonce also spend a large amount of time appearing on other artists tracks. For example, Jay-z hit "03 Bonnie & Clyde", Luther Vandross' "Dance with My Father" and a version of "The Closer I Get To You" which one a Grammy for best R&B performance by duo or group.
In June 2003, Beyonce finally released her first solo album, "Dangerously in Love." The album appeared on the Billboard 200 at #1 and sold 317,000 copies in its first week. It has been certified 4x Platinum and has sold 4.2 milllion copies to date in the U.S. The album featured many other artists like Jay-Z and the album produced two #1 singles. "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy."
Inspired by her role in the 2006 film "Dream Girls," Beyonce began her second studio album, "B'Day." She Co-Wrote and Co-Produced nearly all the tracks. The album debuted at number one and has been certified 3x Platinum. The single "Irreplaceable" topped the billboard 100 for 10 weeks. Knowles re-released a deluxe edition of B'Day on April 3, 2007. It featured 5 new tracks and spanish versions of "irreplaceable" and "Listen" The B'Day Anthology was released featuring 10 music videos. She also started her "The Beyoncé Experience" concert tour, which played over 90 venues. At the 2007 Grammy Awards, B'Day earned Beyonce the award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. She made history at the 35th Annual American Music Awards for being the first woman to win the International Artist Award.
Beyonce's 3rd and latest album, "I am... Sasha Fierce" was released in November of 2008. Her largest album yet, the album featured many of Beyonce's musical sides. Slow songs such as "Halo" and "If I Were A Boy" occupied the charts for a long time, while tougher songs like "Diva" and "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" were also displayed."Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" gave Knowles her 5th #1 single and it even comes wtih a catchy dance! While "Halo" peaked at #5, making it her 12th top 10 hit on the Hot 100.
"Single Ladies" is one of Beyonce's biggest hits. It won the 2009 BET Awards Video of the Year. In addition, it was nominated for a total of nine awards at the 2009 MTV VMAs, and ultimately won the award for Video of the Year, and an additional two awards. In November 2009, Beyonce was announced as the winner of the UK's 4Music's 'World's Greatest Popstars' competition. Over 100,000 voted, with Knowles coming out on top of the competition.
Knowles won the Outstanding Female Artist at the 2009 NAACP Image Awards and the Best R&B Artist award at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. Beyonce performed on January 18, 2009 at the Lincoln Memorial festivities in honor of the inauguration of Barack Obama. Knowles also sang her cover of the R&B classic most famously sang by Etta James, "At Last", as President Obama and his wife had their first dance as President and First lady, on January 20, 2009.
Her life is filled with awards, albums, and movies. She's been on the music scene for about 19 years. Starting off in Girl's Tyme, and continuing from that to Destiny's Child, developing into an amazingly strong solo artist whose hits have blown up the charts year after year. She is and always will be one of the strongest female music artists to exist.

That's all I got to say.

Let's talk about the Gosselins! Or who used to be the Gosselins.

Jon and Kate Gosselin were one of the most discussed couples in hollywood with the start of their TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8.
Jon and Kate had been married and started their family off by having a set of twins, Cara and Madelyn. Followed by sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Joel, Leah, Collin, and Aaden. Jon and Kate finally had their happy family,
NOT.
All seemed okay until Jon Gosselin decided it would be a good idea to tear this huge family apart by cheating on his wife. People.Com reports that Jon was seen leaving a bar in Pennsylvannia with another woman, Deanna Hummel. She claims they were not cheating, while her brother says the affair has been going on for 3 months. With the photographed evidence, those claims are hard to deny. Publicly, the couple denied the rumors of Jon cheating. But in interviews during their TLC show they both talked about how they were unsure where their relationship was heading.
Rumors also went around about Kate cheating with her bodyguard, Steve Neild. Kate denied these rumors saying she requires him for protection. Which in understandable when you are the mother of 8 children being followed by paparazzi. Jon however, does not require the protection of another female, at a bar.
Throughout all the drama, the love between Jon and Kate clearly deminished. Neither were clear on what would happen to their marriage. For me, once you are unsure about your feelings towards your wife/husband, the love is gone.
Eventually, Kate and Jon filed for divorce. Some people think that Kate is a crazy woman or a whack job. Please, have 8 children and a camera crew surrounding you at all times, then you can comlain. Some people also say that the divorce was inevitable, they might be right. But I wouldn't care at all about them being divorced if it wasn't for the poor 8 children who have to live with this torn family now. Plus it seems now that Kate is happier. New York Daily News reports Kate has bought a condo in Maryland where she will stay while Jon stays with the children in the house.
Kate became more of a super mom, if that was possible. She spent every waking minute with her children, living the single mom life. Jon used his days to buy more Ed Hardy clothes and party harder.
Clearly the actions of the two parents indicate who is the more respectable human being. Taking care of your large family should be more important to someone than partying with young women. If I had to give Jon Gosselin an award, I would give him the "Dead Beat Dad" award. Congratulations!
If there was a moral to this story, anywhere, It would be this:
DON'T MAKE 8 CHILDREN WITH SOMEONE IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHEAT ON THEM.
Jon Gosselin is full of bad decisions. Sadly, 8 children are stuck in the middle of a torn family.
But Kate is trying her best to keep her childrens lives happy, and relatively normal. When I talk about respecting people, Kate is one of those people that I respect as a celebrity. She could have gone out and partied harder than anybody, she could have got her self a new man or had affair after affair, but she knew what was more important to her. Her family.
The victims in this sad story are the children, but their hero should be their mother.
That's all I got to say.

This is what I'ma do.

Introductions are awkward. I'm David, and I'm very opinionated. This blog will be my opinion on any frequently discussed topic. The remainder of my posts will mostly be videos. I've always got something to say about someone or something, whether its negative or positive.
I will be talking mainly about celebrities, music, movies, and television shows. Sometimes i'll talk about the up and coming artists or movies, or discuss the frequently talked about stars.
As americans we are fascinated by celebrities and anyone in the spot light, we look up to them. We hate some, we love some. No matter how we feel, we are captivated by hollywood and the lifestyle of the rich and famous.
For many stars, we can all say positive things about them. Take Ellen Degenerous for example. She's one of the funniest women in hollywood, with one of the most watched television shows out there today.
But there are some people who are famous for reasons which I don't feel should get them any stardom. Like Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, A.K.A. Speidi. They are talentless and annoying.
I have respect for people with admirable characteristics or talents. Speidi lacks those traits and talents. There are many celebrities who do have those talents, and they deserve the respect and credit for being famous for a positive reason, sorry Jon Gosselin, you aren't one of them.
If you don't know Jon Gosselin, the basics of his life are -
1. Marrying Kate Krieder.
2. Making 8 children, 1 set of twins, and sextuplets.
3. Leaving that family for multiple mistresses.
What a nice dad. Way to go Jon Gosselin!
Unlike Jon, Kate is a respectable woman. She kept her children with her, and represents single mothers across America. That's a strong woman, someone deserving respect.
Movie wise, whenever I see a new movie, I'll be sure to update you all on how I thought it was. The last movie I saw was Avatar. It was incredibly beautiful. Seriously one of the best movies of the year, if not the best. The 3D effects are brilliant, they bring the whole world to life, not just a few object here and there.
On the other side, I feel like it was exactly like Pocahontas, just with different characters. Semi-dissapointing but Avatar is still an amazing movie.
If I'm going to discuss the music scene, I have to talk about the hottest musical artists out there. For me, its a triple threat of the ladies. Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Ke$ha. Those 3 are blowing up the music industry. All with hit songs and videos. Beyonce has been around for a long time, from he Destinys Child days, and she still looks and sounds amazing. Lady Gaga and Ke$ha are newer artists, but they are making hits and everyone is talking about them. All of them make great music.
Those are just some of the things I will discuss in the future.
I hope you enjoy what I have to say, feel free to comment on anything. First discussions will start soon.

Thanks for reading,
That's all I got to say... For now.
