When I say female music artist who comes to mind?
For me, its Beyonce.
Born Beyonce Giselle Knowles in Houston Texas, she made her earliest start in a rapping and dancing group called Girl's Tyme. Her future Destiny's Child group member Kelly Rowland was also in the group. Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles, became her full time manager. Beyonce spent a few years in Girl's Tyme but as she got older a new group was created in 1997. The legendary Destiny's Child began, consisting of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Arguably one of the most talented female R&B groups of all time, Destiny's child released 4 studio albums. Consisting of "Denstiny's Child" (1998), "The Writing's on the Wall" (1999), Survivor (2001), and "Destiny Fulfilled" (2004). "Survivor" reached #1 on the billboard charts in 2001, and "Destiny Fulfilled" reached #2 in 2004. Aside from their studio albums, they released 3 side albums. "8 Days of Christmas" (2001), "This is the Remix" (2002), and "#1's" (2005).
Aside from Beyonce's music career, in 2001 she landed a major role in "Carmen: A Hip Hopera." Following that she played Foxxy Cleopatra in "Austin Powers in Goldmember." Beyonce then co-stared with Cuba Gooding Jr. in "The Fighting Temptations." She also starred in "The Pink Panter" (2006) and "Dream Girl" (2006). In 2008 she played in "Cadillac Records." Her latest movie is "Obsessed" (2009).
Beyonce also spend a large amount of time appearing on other artists tracks. For example, Jay-z hit "03 Bonnie & Clyde", Luther Vandross' "Dance with My Father" and a version of "The Closer I Get To You" which one a Grammy for best R&B performance by duo or group.
In June 2003, Beyonce finally released her first solo album, "Dangerously in Love." The album appeared on the Billboard 200 at #1 and sold 317,000 copies in its first week. It has been certified 4x Platinum and has sold 4.2 milllion copies to date in the U.S. The album featured many other artists like Jay-Z and the album produced two #1 singles. "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy."
Inspired by her role in the 2006 film "Dream Girls," Beyonce began her second studio album, "B'Day." She Co-Wrote and Co-Produced nearly all the tracks. The album debuted at number one and has been certified 3x Platinum. The single "Irreplaceable" topped the billboard 100 for 10 weeks. Knowles re-released a deluxe edition of B'Day on April 3, 2007. It featured 5 new tracks and spanish versions of "irreplaceable" and "Listen" The B'Day Anthology was released featuring 10 music videos. She also started her "The Beyoncé Experience" concert tour, which played over 90 venues. At the 2007 Grammy Awards, B'Day earned Beyonce the award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. She made history at the 35th Annual American Music Awards for being the first woman to win the International Artist Award.
Beyonce's 3rd and latest album, "I am... Sasha Fierce" was released in November of 2008. Her largest album yet, the album featured many of Beyonce's musical sides. Slow songs such as "Halo" and "If I Were A Boy" occupied the charts for a long time, while tougher songs like "Diva" and "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" were also displayed."Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" gave Knowles her 5th #1 single and it even comes wtih a catchy dance! While "Halo" peaked at #5, making it her 12th top 10 hit on the Hot 100.
"Single Ladies" is one of Beyonce's biggest hits. It won the 2009 BET Awards Video of the Year. In addition, it was nominated for a total of nine awards at the 2009 MTV VMAs, and ultimately won the award for Video of the Year, and an additional two awards. In November 2009, Beyonce was announced as the winner of the UK's 4Music's 'World's Greatest Popstars' competition. Over 100,000 voted, with Knowles coming out on top of the competition.
Knowles won the Outstanding Female Artist at the 2009 NAACP Image Awards and the Best R&B Artist award at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. Beyonce performed on January 18, 2009 at the Lincoln Memorial festivities in honor of the inauguration of Barack Obama. Knowles also sang her cover of the R&B classic most famously sang by Etta James, "At Last", as President Obama and his wife had their first dance as President and First lady, on January 20, 2009.
Her life is filled with awards, albums, and movies. She's been on the music scene for about 19 years. Starting off in Girl's Tyme, and continuing from that to Destiny's Child, developing into an amazingly strong solo artist whose hits have blown up the charts year after year. She is and always will be one of the strongest female music artists to exist.
That's all I got to say.

I don't think Beyonce has ever released a bad song. It's not necessarily my favorite kind of music to listen to, but she definitely has talent!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Latoya Luckett? She was in the original Destiny's child.
ReplyDeleteI just did it based off of the final group before they split
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to read all of Beyonce's accomplishments. I always knew she had received a lot of recognition for her work, but seeing it all written out really shows how talented she is.
ReplyDeleteThough I don't listen to Beyonce a lot, I have so much respect for the woman.
ReplyDeleteShe reaches consistently great songs, and I believe that she has one of the greatest singing voices out there in the world today.
She deserved every Grammy that she won.
I've never really thought much about it but Beyonce has made more accomplishments than most and she is a very talented person.
